Rehearsals are underway now and it’s great to be back to be back to full strength with new members in all sections of the choir. Kathy has chosen a wide range of songs for our next Summer Concert which is on 7th July – watch this space for further details.

What a fantastic concert this afternoon at Marldon Church! We sang our hearts out to a very appreciative audience who all joined in the fun of ‘The twelve days of Christmas’

We will start at Marldon School at 6.15pm on Friday 1st December. Father Christmas will lead us through Marldon to the Church House Inn where we will join the Salvation Army Band to sing carols while the Christmas lights are turned on.
Marldon Village Hall came alive yesterday evening with the Last Night of the Proms.
Singing, flag-waving, whoops and whistles galore and a great time was had by all.
And… we were very lucky to have these 2 among our honoured guests
It’s a busy start to the new term. As well as putting on the Last Night of the Proms (see below) on Saturday 9th September (tickets still available) we are singing at the Apple Pie Fair in Marldon next Saturday 2nd September at 2.15pm and starting our rehearsals of Christmas music the following Monday 4th September.
So if you’ve been wondering whether or not to give Marldon Choir a go, come along for a taster session and try us out. You will find us very friendly and welcoming.

We are really pleased to be putting on this popular event again. The evening includes a live link-up to the Albert Hall, and lots of singing and flag-waving! So put on your glad rags and we’ll see you there.
Our Summer Term is coming to an end and at our last rehearsal we sang some of Kathy’s favourites from our Summer repertoire, and we started learning some Christmas music (Christmas in July!) – all new pieces ranging from John Rutter to African melodies, to Polar Express songs! Our new term is beginning on Monday 4th September so do come and join us. We are open to all comers and particularly would like more male voices!
Of course our term isn’t quite ended as we have our end of term party next week. We are a very friendly sociable choir and arrange various get-togethers during the year, including film nights and local walks. We will be taking part in the Marldon village Apple Pie Fair on Saturday 2nd September, and are running our own event, the Last Night of The Proms on Saturday 9th September. We were delighted to be invited to sing at Mayfield College’s Summer Fête this week and we enjoyed watching their musical performances too.
Mayfield College is one of the charities that we have chosen to support this year. In the last few years we have supported other local charities and have been able to give generous cheques from proceeds of our concerts and fundraising events to Rowcroft Hospice, Devon Air Ambulance and the Salvation Army.
Our next pop-up event will be at the Marldon Apple Pie Fair, so do come and listen to us then and have a chat. We are a very friendly choir and would love you to join us.
In answer to some queries about the choir, here is some more information:
We usually do two concerts a year, one in the summer and one at Christmas, and also do ‘pop-up’ singing at local events, in Marldon and the surrounding area. We recently sang at the licensing of the new Associate Priest at Marldon church and received this message afterwards:
Please could you pass on my thanks to the wonderful community choir for their participation at the licensing service last night. It was a lovely service, made even more special by your singing – a true village occasion!!
