We had a very enjoyable Christmas concert performed at Marldon Parish Church to a packed audience, and was a great start to the Christmas celebrations.
Now we are looking forward to learning new music in 2019. Our new term starts on Monday 14th January at Marldon Primary School, 730pm. We are particularly looking for altos and men to join us! Look forward to seeing you there.
We are now busy rehearsing for our Christmas concert, to be held on 9th December at 2.30pm. Tickets are now on sale for £5 to include mulled wine and mince pies – see flyer for details of purchase. Last year was a huge success and got the Christmas season off to a flying start. So please come and join us!!
A fabulous evening was had by all at the Race Night held last Saturday. Over 90 people came, we all enjoyed plenty of food, wine and betting although nobody lost their shirt! It was also a really successful fundraiser for the choir and we hope to do more in the future, so look out for more event notices.
Come and join us for an evening of fun and entertainment at Marldon Village Hall on 3rd November at 7.30 to take part in the Race Night!
Tickets are selling fast and are limited in number so do get in touch with us soon.(see the photo for details, or via this website or Facebook page). All ages are welcome young and old so bring the whole family!
We were delighted to present to Rowcroft Hospice at our first rehearsal this term the amazing amount of £2000 raised at our ‘Sounds of Summer 2018’ concert. We had dedicated the concert to Ronnie our friend and former choir member who sadly passed away earlier this year and we feel we did her proud!
This set our first rehearsal of the term off to a terrific start. We have some great new songs this term and some new members. We still have spaces for altos and men, so don’t be shy, come and join us! We rehearse on Monday evenings, starting at 7.30pm at Marldon Primary School.
What a fantastic evening we had on 30th June at Central Church, Torquay! We sang our hearts out to a very appreciative audience. Thanks to Tom Morris who enchanted us with his wonderful solo singing, and to Voicemale for their lovely sonorous barbershop harmonies. We raised well over our target of a thousand pounds for Rowcroft Hospice, the final amount will be revealed when we present our cheque to the Hospice team. Many thanks to everyone who made this such a memorable evening.
Our next performance will be ‘Sounds of Summer 2018’ concert to be held at Central Church, Torquay, on 30th June at 7.30pm where we will be singing a variety of well-known popular music. Accompanying performers include ‘Voicemale’ a barbershop quartet who have appeared on TV and numerous venues nationwide and who kindly supported us last year. Tickets (£8) for the concert can be obtained from ‘Cut of Class’, and Marldon Newsagents, any choir member, or please contact Anne on 07703066877. Some tickets will be available on the door. The concert is again in aid of Rowcroft Hospice and in memory of Ronnie Mooney a former choir member.
Marldon Community Choir is delighted to be presenting a cheque for £1200 to Rowcroft Hospice.
This money was raised at the Choir’s ‘Sounds of Summer 2017’ concert held at St John’s Church, Totnes in July. The concert was directed by Kathy Snow and accompanied by Wyn Turner on the piano. It was compered by Phil Burford and guest appearances were made by Lewis Cudmore, who is currently studying at Laine Theatre Arts, and the barbershop group, ‘Voicemale’. The evening was a great success and greatly enjoyed by both performers and audience.
Marldon Community Choir was formed in 2014 and currently has a membership of around 50 people from the local community who enjoy singing and making music together. Further events are planned for the coming year and more information about these and about joining the Choir can be found here on the website
In an effort to get a few images for the website we held a photo-shoot the other night. Carlo brought his camera and we all fell under the gaze of the paparazzi lens! At least we all know what it would be like now if we became famous. Now did he get my best side?!
Marldon Community Choir has changed its regular meetings from Tuesday to Mondays. It will now be meeting at Marldon Primary School at 7.30pm on Mondays
