HELP UKRAINE

In conjunction with the Ipplepen and Surrounding Area U3A association, Marldon Community Choir is opening a collection point for humanitarian aid for Ukraine in the Community Room at Marldon village hall on Saturday 5th April. The collection point will be open between 10am – 12pm and below is a list of items they are desperate for.

  • Pickups and minibuses and ambulances are needed to transport the wounded from the front to the hospitals of Dnipro.
  • 5 ml. syringes, 10 ml. 20 ml.,
  • suture material to sew up wounds,
  • catheters and IV systems,
  • dressings, bandages, compresses,
  • crutches, wheelchairs and other aids for the disabled (can be collected)
  • wet wipes,
  • good quality T-shirts,
  • tourniquets to stop bleeding,
  • sleeping pads, sleeping bags
  • generators.

We appreciate that you probably have not got a spare minibus, or even suture materials for sewing up a wound, but you might have a pair of crutches that the hospital do not want returned, or even the odd pack of wet wipes. They will be extremely grateful for any assistance you are able to give. We would stress however, NO MEDICATION please.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you on the 5th April.

Christmas Concert

What a brilliant Christmas concert we had this year. We filled Marldon Parish Church with the Sounds of Christmas in a collection of Carols, Christmas songs and Christmas stories.

Many thanks to our audience for your participation in the singing and in the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas” We had a lot of positive comments from you all, and we all agreed it was the best yet!

The Sounds of Christmas 2024

It’s that time of year again! We are getting rehearsed and ready for our Christmas concert, only 4 weeks to go and tickets will be available from next week. Do get yours early as last year was a sell-out!

We will be singing some favourite Christmas carols as well as new Christmas songs, and of course our audience participation song to finish (regulars will know what this is, but a surprise for you if this is your first time!)

Christmas lantern parade

Do come and join us and start the Christmas festivities and switching on of the Christmas lights at The Church House Inn.

We are going to start at Marldon School at 6.15pm on Friday 6th December. Father Christmas will lead us through the streets of Marldon to The Church House Inn where we will join the Salvation Army band to sing Christmas carols as the Christmas lights are switched on.

Everyone is welcome, especially children and their parents, bring your lanterns or torches and let’s get Christmas off to a great start!

Supporting the Alzheimer’s Society

The Alzheimer’s Society is our charity of the year and we were delighted to present another cheque to them at our last rehearsal, this time for the grand sum of £1000 !!

This was the amount raised from the sale of tickets for our Sounds of Summer 2024 concert in June.

Thanks to all our audience for contributing to such an important charity that supports research into Alzheimer’s and gives much needed help to sufferers and their families.
